Current Affairs - 11 April 2021 - Daily Current Affairs to improve General Knowledge and to prepare for competitive exams

  1. The Kerala high court had announced that a child born to a couple in a live in relationship will be treated as a child born to a married couple for the purpose of the Juvenile Justice Act and Adoption Guidelines. So, from now onwards, for surrendering a child for adoption, live in couples have to be treated as married couples.
  2. Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office, had laid the foundation stone for the work of 'construction of balance portion of Ravi Canal' of ShahpurKandi Dam Project at Basantpur, Kathua, Jammu. The project has been now inaugrated after a huge gap of 60 years after the Indus water treaty came into being. The aim of the project now is to utilize full water of Ravi river in Indian territory.
  3. A two day Scientific Convention on 'Homeopathy - Roadmap for Integrative Medicine' was inaugrated recently. The Convention was organized by the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy, which is an autonomous apex research organization under Ministry of AYUSH.
  4. The Cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country had recently crossed 9.80 crores. In terms of the number of daily doses administered globally, India continues to remain at the top with an average of 38,93,288 doses per day.
  5. Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, had recently inaugrated the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence for Rowing Discipline at the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Water Sports Academy in Srinagar. As of now, it will focus on the Sports Discipline of Rowing.
  6. Tripura and Sikkim had presented their annual action plans to provide tap water connection to rural households.
  7. A volcano in the Southern Caribbean that had been dormant for some decades erupted in a blast of grey smoke.
  8. India had recorded highest single day spike in COVID-19 cases on 10 April, 2021, since the outbreak of the virus last year.
  9. The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to extend the lockdown in various cities, including Indore, till 19 April, 2021, because of a sudden increase in COVID-19 cases in the state.
  10. Iran has recently imposed a 10 day lockdown across most of the country to curb the spread of a fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
